"BE QUIET!"

On Friday Matt and I went to a Rangers game with Matt’s brother and sister-in-law. We had a good time hanging out at the game and screaming at the people in front of us that were cheering for the other team. That was my first time meeting Matt’s brother – he is pretty weird, but not any weirder than Matt. :) Even though the Rangers lost (surprise, surprise!) we had a really good time.

Well I would tell y’all all about mom’s big birthday party, but Summer did a pretty good job with it, so if you want to hear more about it check out their blog! :) We did have a good time though! It was nice to have the whole family together for a little while since we don’t get to do that very often. We also had a good time sitting on the back porch playing guitars and singing! Matt got to come with me, which was fun. He had met most of my family, but not everyone. Saying “family” also includes all of our friends from church that were there that are basically family to me. :) Even after meeting the church crew and the protective big brothers, he still decided he would stick with me for a while. He may not fully understand what he is getting himself into though! Haha!

This week at Park Avenue we are having CTW (Christian Theater Workshop). It is kind of like a mix between LTC and VBS. All of the kids here from kindergarten up to seniors in high school participate. During the mornings everyone gets together and practices the play/musical. One of the ladies here wrote the play this year (usually they get the play from somewhere else). Then during the afternoon they have groups (by age) and they have activities such as Bible, Crafts, Games, and Songs. I am the lucky person that got put in charge of games. At first I was pretty excited about it because I thought it would be easy… but it is not. The high school students are “group leaders” so really all of the groups are younger kids. To them, game time means they can just run around and scream and not listen to anything I say. It has been pretty frustrating and at the end of every day I can barely speak from yelling so much. It’s always, “BE QUIET! LISTEN UP! IF YOU DON’T HUSH YOU CAN’T PLAY THE GAME!” Haha, it’s insane. All in all it is pretty fun, I suppose, but it is very tiring. It makes me very thankful that I changed my major from Elementary Physical Education. I see now that I don’t have the patience for that kind of job! :)

We are leaving for Mission Trip on Wednesday! I am so excited to go. I have heard such awesome things about this trip so I look forward to experiencing it for myself. We are going to an orphanage in Anahuac, Mexico. The orphanage is called Casa de la Esperanza which means “House of Hope”. Matt wrote a song about it that is really good! If I can figure out how to do it, I will put it up on here sometime. I will be sure to give a good summary of our trip when we get back!

We will get back from Mission Trip on August 7th, then August 12th is my last day here at Park Avenue! I am going to be very sad to leave everyone here. I’m not going to give my “leaving speech” yet because I still have a couple of weeks left, but it does make me really sad to think about the summer almost being over!

Well I actually have tonight off from work so I am going to actually go to bed at a decent hour! I am looking forward to a full night’s rest. I haven’t had that in a while.
