I'm still here!

Hey everyone, I'm still here! Sorry I haven't posted in a few days. Things have been really crazy here lately! I will try to catch yall up on everything.
On Saturday, Matt and I drove to Gainesville and met up with mom and dad to go to the Rangers game! First we drove to Fort Worth and dropped Trigger-face off at Jason and Summer's house. I think he was glad to be home! Then we went to Bangkok. I looove Bangkok! After dinner we went on over to the Ballpark even though we still had a while before the game started. We walked around some then went to the Legends museum. The museum was really interesting but my favorite part was going to the kids section! We took a field trip there when I was in 3rd or 4th grade so it was pretty fun to go to it all again. Sadly my favorite part of the kids section was broken! It is a thing where you sit down and put your face in the catchers mask and you see a video of Nolan Ryan pitching to you. Then you put your hand in the glove that is attached to the wall and you can see what it feels like to catch one of his pitches! I remember that I LOVED that when I came on the field trip, but the glove was on the "disabled list". It was still a lot of fun though! Once we finished going through the musuem it was about time for the game to start. We played the Red Sox and there were TONS of Red Sox fans there! I didn't get my hopes too high on the Rangers winning, but I was still hoping that they would! Well the Rangers came out there and they were doing awesome! It was a really good game up until the 6th inning and Boston just started taking over. The Rangers couldn't do ANYTHING! It was pretty frustrating. Well then we got to the 9th inning and Boston was up 7-4. The Rangers were up to bat with two runners on base and two outs. All we needed was a homerun! The guy hits the ball and it goes flying way out to center field and it looks like its gone but it falls JUST short of the wall and the center fielder caught it... it was so terribly sad. All in all it was still a lot of fun, but it would've been even MORE fun if we could've pulled off a win there at the end. Ooooh well. So after the game we went back to Jason and Summer's house and Matt and I headed back to Denison. It was a pretty fun day!
On Sunday morning I went in with the Jr. High class because I hadn't met very many of the younger kids. They were a lot of fun and I was really impressed by their excitement in Bible class. After church I had a guy come over and introduce himself to me and he said, "Hey... I think I may know some of your family." He told me that he was from Breckenridge so I immediately knew that he had to know Uncle Jim! He also told me that my aunt Sharron used to babysit him a lot when he was younger. I thought it was pretty neat. I called Sharron to tell her and she said his name is Craig Dennis. (I wasn't sure of his last name)
On Saturday afternoon we met together to have Senior Night Out. We took all of the graduating seniors and the juniors for a night out. First we went to Plano and played a couple of games of Lazer Tag which was a lot of fun. I had never played before so I didn't always know what was going on but I managed to do pretty well. After Lazer Tag we played Whirley Ball. I had never even heard of that so I am going to assume that none of you have either. Basically it is bumper cars, basketball, and whatever sport it is that you use the little curved basket things on a stick all in one! It was sooo much fun! Everyone had a few bumps and bruises by the end of it from being bumped up against the wall one too many times, but everyone was having a great time. When we finished there we went to Magic Time Machine where we had Superman as our waiter. He was a little strange, but all in all really good. We hung out there for a while just visiting and having a good time. Then the last event of the night was going to Main Event! We each had about $15 to play some video games. By the time we finished there most of us were pretty tired! In fact, a lot of people ended up falling asleep on the bus... like me!
Since we were out so late Sunday night we didn't have to come to work until that afternoon. We just worked for a few hours then Matt and I went to the place where he is staying this summer and they cooked hamburgers and smores for us! It was really nice! The smores were amazing!
After that Matt and I went over to Mitzi's house (which is where I'll be living for the rest of the summer) and got a key and a quick tour of the house. Then on Tuesday when I got a break I went ahead and moved all of my stuff from Wes and Naomi's over to Mitzi's house. I think that it is going to work out pretty well staying with her. She isn't around very much so we really don't see each other very much. She is a very laid back person and she seems pretty easy to get along with! She has a pool too... so that is a bonus. She left today for a trip with some girls to New York so I will have the house to myself for a few days. Hopefully it will give me some time to really get settled in and comfortable there.
I will go ahead and post this much since I haven't made a post in so long. I should have some time off tomorrow so I will write all about Servin' Safari and the Unstoppable Summer bash that we had tonight!

Oh How I Love Taco Ring

I have finished my first week of work! It has been kind of a crazy week trying to get used to everything and really get going! This has been a very long week, but not in a bad way. It has been a lot of fun and it only makes me look forward to what the rest of the summer has in store!
Yesterday after work Naomi fixed supper for us. We had cornflake chicken and mashed potatoes! It was wonderful. She also makes this fruit salad that is amazing! Of course, I kind of pick out the fruits that I really want but it is still amazing!
After supper Matt and I went to a little get together with some of the youth group kids. We hung out with them for a while and played Guitar Hero and Texas Hold 'Em. I had no clue how to play poker so one of the boys in the youth group attempted to teach me. I still don't fully understand it but I'm sure I will by the end of the summer! After hanging out there for a while Matt and I went to the movie theater in Sherman to see Pirates of the Caribbean 3. It was opening night so it was pretty crazy! Some of Matt's friends had already gotten us tickets so we didn't have to worry about that but we had to wait in line and there were tons of people there. The movie was very long and it didn't start until about 12:20am so it was kind of hard to stay awake! I'm pretty sure that it was a pretty good movie, but I will have to watch it again sometime and catch all the parts that I dozed through. We got in around 3am this morning! Wes had gone to Austin for his cousin's graduation so it was about 3am when he got back too.
Since we were all pretty tired we decided that we would just come into work around noon so we could try to catch up on sleep. We had a few things to do this afternoon then we got to leave early so it was a pretty easy day! After work we went and placed membership at a gym in Denison and ran to the mall for a little while. Then we went to a Bible church in Sherman because Matt's band was playing for a Celebrate Recovery meeting. It was pretty awesome, I thought. We went straight from there back over to Wes and Naomi's house because they had supper ready for us. Naomi made TACO RING! Oh how I love taco ring. It was different from how I am used to having it but it was still amazing. Naomi's dad was here too so I got to meet him. After dinner we all just sat around and visited for a while.
I am actually going to go to bed at a decent hour tonight and I don't have a certain time that I have to wake up! Wes and Naomi and the girls are going to a graduation in the morning and they will be gone all morning. Then early afternoon Matt and I are driving to Gainesville and we are going to go to the Rangers game with mom and dad. I am really looking forward to it! I love going to see the Rangers AND its the bank tickets which makes it even better!
We have a lot of activities going on this next week at church so I'm sure I will have a lot of stories to tell in the next few days. I haven't really had any pictures to put up yet. We have some really fun things coming up though, so hopefully I will have some pictures to share soon.

So tired...

Today was such a long day and I am completely worn out! We worked at the building from 9:30am to 10:00pm nearly nonstop. The day went by a lot faster than I had imagined and it really wasn't that bad, but I am sure tired now.
We had supper at the church building so Matt and I had to make a lot of things to set up for that. Then we also worked on our classes that we'll be starting in about a week. Other than that, it was just a lot of other small projects that needed to be done. Matt and I have a lot of fun together so it makes the day go by pretty fast.
Once we left the building at 10 we drove to Sherman and saw Shreck the Third. When we were getting out our money to pay for the ticket a guy that worked there came over and started talking to Matt. Apparently they went to high school together so the guy gave us a free ticket! It was nice! The movie was good too. It is a typical Shreck movie! I still don't think any of them can be as good as the first one, but it was still pretty funny!
So anyway, we did tons of stuff today but I am too tired to go into details. All in all it was another great, but busy, day!

Day Two

Well today was a very busy day! We met with some of the elders this morning around 9am. They have a meeting every Tuesday morning just to kind of discuss what all is going on during the week. There were about nine people there total. It was good to meet everyone, but it was nothing too exciting.
Shortly after the meeting we all drove over to a place in Sherman to check out a possible service project. Next week we are having Servin' Safari which is basically just two days of nonstop service projects. The thing that we will actually be doing is repairing a playground in a worn down part of town. It is in pretty poor shape and could be really dangerous for the kids to play on. We met two other youth ministers from other churches in the area and we scoped out the place and talked about what needed to be done. We spoke with the person in charge there and got it all lined up for us to come next week. I think it will be neat to see it all when we are finished! Just a fresh coat of paint would make the place look a lot better. Once we left there we all went out to eat at Applebees. We had a good time sitting around visiting with everyone. I think the waitress was ready for us to leave because we just kept talking and having a good time well after everyone had finished eating! It was a lot of fun.
After that Matt and I went back to the office to work on some things. I am in charge of keeping up with all of the applications for camps and keeping record of who signed up and whether or not they have paid. I had a huge stack of applications for three different camps and for Servin' Safari. I had to plug it all into a spreadsheet and just get it kind of organized from the start so that I can keep up with it all.
Later we went through old curriculums so we could see what had already been done. I will be in charge of teaching a girls class on Sunday nights, and Matt will be teaching the Wednesday night classes. We went through a lot of books so that took a while. Wes came and visited with us for a while about classes and how they would be split up and so on. Then we all went to Lifeway to see if we could find something to use for our classes. Matt couldn't find anything for his guy's class but I found a really cool book for my class. I will tell more about it as I study it a little more. I think it will be a lot of fun though, and I think (and hope) that the girls will enjoy it!
Tomorrow there is a thing called PAWS (Park Avenue Wednesday Supper) and they have it once a month. Apparently some guy has a cooker the size of a trailer house... Wes hasn't stopped talking about it yet! Anyway we are having hamburgers and hot dogs so Matt and I went to Sams to get all of the stuff. We got 90 hamburger patties, 90 hot dogs, buns, condiments, chips, 150 soft drinks... and whatever else you can think of! We got quite a few funny looks for having so much food on our cart! When we left there we took all the food back up to the church building and put it all away.
Once we finished everything up at the building we went back over to Wes & Naomi's house because they were cooking us supper. Matt and I just sat around and played with the girls. They are sooo much fun and so full of energy. They never get tired, I don't think. Wes cooked pork chops and Naomi made shish kabobs and fruit salad and rolls. It was wonderful! I loved the fruit salad, surprisingly enough.
After dinner Matt and I went over to his friend's house where Matt is staying. There were quite a few people over there so we just kind of hung out and visited for a while. Then we watched a DVD of an Alison Krauss concert which I thought was pretty random, but it was a good show! We hung out there for a little while then I came back here to get some rest.
Today was a good day, but also a very tiring day! Wes warned us tonight that tomorrow will be VERY busy as well. We are going in around 9:30am and probably not leaving until about 10:00pm! We have a lot of meetings and a lot of planning to do tomorrow so it is going to be a long day!
I know this whole thing is basically just a play by play of my day, so I hope its not too boring! Things are really going to start picking up here in the next few days so I should have some good stories to tell! Thursday is the last day of school here so I'm sure that is when a lot of it will start.
Ok well I'm off to bed to prepare for another day!

First Day

Well today was my first day on the job! I drove over to Denison today and met Wes and Matt for lunch over at Wes's house. We ate some Chik-Fil-A and just sat around and visited for a while. Then Wes went over the job descriptions with us again and just kind of talked about everything that will be going on the next few days. Whereas I think it is going to be a lot of fun, I can tell that I am going to be staying very busy! One of Wes's little girls, Avery, kept coming in and showing off for us while we were talking. She was so cute! I think she immediately took a liking to me. She would just come over and stand in front of me and smile then giggle and run away. Then later she drew me a nice picture! I have NO idea what it is, but it was very sweet of her!
Later during the afternoon we all went up to the church building to get some things set up there. Wes showed us around and took us to our office to get things set up. We have a little office with two desks and some filing cabinets and a TV and stuff. We cleaned out the desk drawers and got our computers hooked up to the system and everything.
Once we hung out there for a little while, Matt and I went to Panara Bread to get some dinner then went back over to Wes's house for Word Up. That is a devo that they have during the school year. Tonight was the last one for the year! Wes was at a meeting so Matt and I had to head it up with no notice! Luckily Naomi, Wes's wife, was there to kind of help us out. There were only about seven kids there tonight because they have finals this week. It was a lot of fun to get to meet some of them and spend some time with them. One of the girls just got her drivers license and a new car a little over a week ago so I let her take me for a ride. She did just fine but I think she was as nervous as could be. She drove real slow and looked very uncomfortable in her seat. I think it was too much for her to talk to me AND drive at the same time so I didn't say much until we got back to the house.
When I got back Matt had gotten out his guitar and mine and was ready to play! I had asked him to learn a song a few weeks ago so we did that one first. It was a lot of fun! It is a two part song so we had a lot of fun singing it together. Wes came through and said, "Its the summer of the musical interns!" We ended up playing and singing (eventually it was just him playing at singing and me just listening) until around 11:00pm. Wes and Naomi hung out with us for a while until they had to go watch some TV show that they had taped.
Since it was getting pretty late we decided that we should probably give it up for the night! We have a meeting with the elders in the morning at 9:00 and I want to be well rested for the day.
For the next week I am going to be staying here with Wes and Naomi and the girls. After that I will be moving in with someone named Mitzi (that is all I know about her as of right now) for the rest of the summer. I have been told that she is very fun, flexible, and that she has a swimming pool!
Ok well I am off to bed, but I will keep you updated on what all happens in the next few days!

(Don't forget! You can comment now!)
