Weird...

So, everywhere in that last post that I tried to put a smiley face it just put a "J". So if you were wondering why there are random J's throughout the post, that is why. I tried to fix it but it won't change. Just imagine that they are all smiley faces! Haha, oh well!

I am going home to Gainesville today after our CTW events. I am getting a haircut then going to an engagement/birthday party for a good friend from high school. I'm looking forward to a little break - this week has been exhausting.

I don't think there is a way for me to put Matt's song on here and let it play. I will put the words up sometime soon though.

"BE QUIET!"

On Friday Matt and I went to a Rangers game with Matt’s brother and sister-in-law. We had a good time hanging out at the game and screaming at the people in front of us that were cheering for the other team. That was my first time meeting Matt’s brother – he is pretty weird, but not any weirder than Matt. :) Even though the Rangers lost (surprise, surprise!) we had a really good time.

Well I would tell y’all all about mom’s big birthday party, but Summer did a pretty good job with it, so if you want to hear more about it check out their blog! :) We did have a good time though! It was nice to have the whole family together for a little while since we don’t get to do that very often. We also had a good time sitting on the back porch playing guitars and singing! Matt got to come with me, which was fun. He had met most of my family, but not everyone. Saying “family” also includes all of our friends from church that were there that are basically family to me. :) Even after meeting the church crew and the protective big brothers, he still decided he would stick with me for a while. He may not fully understand what he is getting himself into though! Haha!

This week at Park Avenue we are having CTW (Christian Theater Workshop). It is kind of like a mix between LTC and VBS. All of the kids here from kindergarten up to seniors in high school participate. During the mornings everyone gets together and practices the play/musical. One of the ladies here wrote the play this year (usually they get the play from somewhere else). Then during the afternoon they have groups (by age) and they have activities such as Bible, Crafts, Games, and Songs. I am the lucky person that got put in charge of games. At first I was pretty excited about it because I thought it would be easy… but it is not. The high school students are “group leaders” so really all of the groups are younger kids. To them, game time means they can just run around and scream and not listen to anything I say. It has been pretty frustrating and at the end of every day I can barely speak from yelling so much. It’s always, “BE QUIET! LISTEN UP! IF YOU DON’T HUSH YOU CAN’T PLAY THE GAME!” Haha, it’s insane. All in all it is pretty fun, I suppose, but it is very tiring. It makes me very thankful that I changed my major from Elementary Physical Education. I see now that I don’t have the patience for that kind of job! :)

We are leaving for Mission Trip on Wednesday! I am so excited to go. I have heard such awesome things about this trip so I look forward to experiencing it for myself. We are going to an orphanage in Anahuac, Mexico. The orphanage is called Casa de la Esperanza which means “House of Hope”. Matt wrote a song about it that is really good! If I can figure out how to do it, I will put it up on here sometime. I will be sure to give a good summary of our trip when we get back!

We will get back from Mission Trip on August 7th, then August 12th is my last day here at Park Avenue! I am going to be very sad to leave everyone here. I’m not going to give my “leaving speech” yet because I still have a couple of weeks left, but it does make me really sad to think about the summer almost being over!

Well I actually have tonight off from work so I am going to actually go to bed at a decent hour! I am looking forward to a full night’s rest. I haven’t had that in a while.

I had a tickle in my throat...

Well camp is over! Whew, it was an exhausting week! My group for Cornerstone was slightly more difficult than my group at Zenith. They were not at all BAD, but... well, they were in middle school! I think that explains it well enough. My patience was really tested that week. I had a few select kids that decided to really buddy up with me the whole week. They had a great time, so for that I am thankful, but I was sure glad when it was all over with! Even though I said I would, I did NOT take pictures. Sorry!

On Saturday, Matt and I came to Gainesville for one of my friend's wedding. I went to high school with her and played sports with her for a long time. It was a very different wedding from what I have experienced in the past, but it was still nice. I got to visit with some friends from high school for a little while, so that was nice too. Afterwards, we went back to the house and Nana, Grangoat, and Elijah were swimming! It was so hot that day, so it was perfect swimming weather. Elijah said, "Laur Laur get in the water!" and I told him that I couldn't because I didn't have a swimsuit and he responded, "Laur Laur get in the water in your shorts!" I resisted at first until he added that sweet little "Please" at the end of it... then i gave in. I got in with him for a few minutes then Matt and I headed back to Sherman.

On Friday night I am going to a Rangers game with Matt and his brother and his wife. Then Saturday SOMEBODY I know is turning 50. I won't mention any names... but I will be spending time with that person.

*cough* MOM *cough* Excuse me, I had a tickle in my throat... :)

Tonight for church we are watching the movie Facing the Giants. I have heard a lot of reviews on it but I have never seen it. I am looking forward to it though! I think that most people who read my blog have seen it (as far as I know), but I will give my own review of it after I've seen it!

Well I have to get poster board and markers from Wal-Mart for an activity tonight! I will try to think of something really interesting to post next time... "try" was the key word there.

When will it go over?

It is hard to believe that my summer here at Park Avenue is more than half way over! I have had a blast so far, and we have so many more exciting things left to do! I really feel blessed to have this opportunity to work here this summer!

We are leaving tomorrow to go to another camp. It is the junior high camp up at OC called Cornerstone. I went to Cornerstone one year as a camper, then I went last summer as a counselor. We have a pretty big group from Park Avenue going. I look forward to spending time with our junior high kids. I feel like I haven't gotten the chance yet to really hang out with them and really get to know them yet. I think it will be a great week for everyone! Now that said, I am NOT looking forward to being sleep deprived again! I'm not even sure that I have recovered from Zenith yet! :) Cornerstone, if I remember correctly, is even MORE nonstop than Zenith. So whereas it will be a FUN week, it looks to also be a very TIRING week.
Matt and I went out to Lake Texoma again today. We have gone out there a couple of times to see if/when the water is going to go over the spillway. It has been quite a big event around here. The last two days we've gone out there there have been tons of people just standing around waiting! There are police directing people in and out of the parking lots, and about five different news stations set up, and helicopters and planes flying around the area. They keep pushing back the time when it will actually spill over. It started off as specific times, then it would be "sometime between 4 and 6 tonight" then after 6pm it became "sometime on Friday" and I have a feeling that tomorrow it will be "sometime on Saturday". Who knows when it will actually happen! Heck, it may not even happen at all! What cracks me up the most are the people on the sides of the road selling tshirts about it! Not only is that kind of silly but they wanted $15 for it!! No, thanks. We took a few pictures today, but I wish I could find a "before" picture to go with it! Hopefully I can eventually find one so you can see just how high the lake is. It is pretty intense! It is just inches from going over. We got some rain tonight, so that could've done the trick, but I haven't heard yet. Here are the pictures from today.

I don't really know a whole lot right now, I just thought I would give a short update before I'm out of touch for a week! I will try to remember to take more pictures at camp this time so I will have something to share when we get back! I will leave you with this picture of the two greatest interns in the whole wide world (I bet you'll never guess who it is!)
