Miscellaneous Pictures

Ginny and I watching the Cowboys together one night.

Several weeks ago Matt went up to Waco to lead worship with his brother at a youth event.

Over Christmas mom gave me this apron, which belonged to my grandmother (her mother). It's my favorite!

We had some storms come through last week, so Ginny stayed inside some during the day. We came home one day to find her stretched out in "Matt's spot" on the couch, using the throw pillows to rest her head on. She didn't get up to greet us, or anything! She was pretty cozy right there! So, OF COURSE, Matt had to find another place to sit for the evening. ;)

Garden

When we moved into our rental house, we were so excited about the huge garden bed in the backyard. We did some research, bought all sorts of tools to work in the garden, then jumped in there several months ago only to find ants, weeds, rocks, and a very poorly constructed box. Needless to say, we were disappointed! So we put that project on hold, not knowing how much time and money we wanted to put into a rental house.

Over the summer the weeds just took it over. It looked really bad, so Matt got out there to work on it some. In doing so, the box just fell apart. Since it was already in pieces, and looked terrible, we decided it was time to do something with it. We tore everything out and decided to start from scratch. NOTE: When I say we, that means mostly Matt. I pitched in every now and then, but he did 95% of the work.

We decided that, at least for now, we aren't going to use very much of that space for gardening. Since we are both new to gardening, we decided to leave one small spot for us to plant something. We still built up the rest of the garden bed, but just spread mulch over most of it for now. At least the weeds are under control, it looks a LOT better, and it is in a position to be prepared for gardening in the future if we decide to expand our "space."

Smithville

Matt has been preaching in Smithville for a couple of weeks while they go through the process of bringing in a new preacher. There isn't much to do IN Smithville, but the area is beautiful and Bastrop, which is quickly growing, is just a few minutes down the road.

The movie Hope Floats (Sandra Bullock and Harry Connick Jr.) was filmed in Smithville, so we drove by the house that was in the movie. I have no idea why the door is not centered... it kind of drives me nuts... but it's still a pretty neat house.

After church we drove into Bastrop and ate at a restaurant downtown that is well known for their breakfast. Those of you who know me well know that I won't turn down a good breakfast!

The new preacher starts up soon, so we probably won't be back in this area for a little while, but we've enjoyed the opportunity to (1) get to know the church in Smithville, and (2) explore the area. :)

Ginny Likes to Swim

We left Ginny with Matt's parents while we took a trip to Hot Springs over Labor Day weekend. They set up a big pool for Jonathan, but I guess Ginny thought it was for HER! Since she wouldn't stay out of the "kid" pool, they set up a smaller pool just for her. She was one happy pup!

I don't know what we're going to do with those doggie grandparents. They always spoil her so much!!
