Garden

When we moved into our rental house, we were so excited about the huge garden bed in the backyard. We did some research, bought all sorts of tools to work in the garden, then jumped in there several months ago only to find ants, weeds, rocks, and a very poorly constructed box. Needless to say, we were disappointed! So we put that project on hold, not knowing how much time and money we wanted to put into a rental house.

Over the summer the weeds just took it over. It looked really bad, so Matt got out there to work on it some. In doing so, the box just fell apart. Since it was already in pieces, and looked terrible, we decided it was time to do something with it. We tore everything out and decided to start from scratch. NOTE: When I say we, that means mostly Matt. I pitched in every now and then, but he did 95% of the work.

We decided that, at least for now, we aren't going to use very much of that space for gardening. Since we are both new to gardening, we decided to leave one small spot for us to plant something. We still built up the rest of the garden bed, but just spread mulch over most of it for now. At least the weeds are under control, it looks a LOT better, and it is in a position to be prepared for gardening in the future if we decide to expand our "space."
