Garden Party at Work

This weekend at The Pointe we had a Garden Party! We have a courtyard in our memory care area, but it needed some serious work! It looked pretty boring, and our residents LOVE to sit outside! So, we invited the families and friends of the residents to come in and help us fix it up! We had a really good turn out and the courtyard is looking better than ever! AND we still have quite a bit more to do! Here are a few pictures from the party:

The working crew! Some of our helpers had already left, but this is the majority of the group. In this picture are 7 out of our 8 residents. One woman wasn't feeling great, so she was resting.

This is our "Chef's Garden". We have cilantro, rosemary, jalapenos... and something else that I can't remember right now. :) It will look really good once everything starts coming in!

Our new bird bath! You can see our little old one to the right of the picture. Quite an improvement, huh?

Our "garden cart"...

Bill and "Aunt Mae Mae". To us, she is Ethel! Ethel never had any children but her nephew, Bill, and his wife Judy take such good care of her! She is quite a trooper. Just a week or two ago she was really going through a tough time and a lot of people had given up. Then, one day she just perked right back up and now she is doing better than ever!

This is Patsy's granddaughter, Reece, and one of our wonderful caregivers, Cheryl. Cheryl worked that morning then changed clothes after her shift and came out to help us!

This is Patsy! She cracks me up every single day! It is hard to get a good picture of her, but you can tell we were laughing about something! I think this was when our chef was telling her that he put rum in her strawberry lemonade! :)

This is Fran! Fran is another one that cracks me up every day! I've told many stories about her, and I can guarantee there will be more to come!

This is Morris and Rena. They are our only married couple in memory care. I was happy to have them join us outside for the event!

This is Ethel again (Aunt Mae Mae) enjoying the sunshine! She doesn't talk much...hardly at all, but it is a blessing whenever she does! She is one of the sweetest people I know. Several months ago I was sitting outside with her and she sighed and said, "This is pretty good." I know she enjoyed getting some fresh air on Saturday!

Oh, Ginny! I absolutely love this woman. She keeps me laughing all the time! She is a BLAST to hang out with and is always so sweet. We ALWAYS have fun together! :)

Last, but not least, Betty! She is a mess! She, like most of the others, always has me laughing! She is also a GREAT dancer! You can count on hearing lots of stories from her too!

All in all, the party was a big success! I know the families enjoyed being able to help out and fix up something nice for their loved ones. We had several requests to do something like this again! I guess we should start working on something for April. :)

Now that I have easier access to my blog, I will try to post more stories from work. I never run out! :)
