Spring Break Concert

I know this is long overdue, but here is a recap of the concert from Spring Break:

On Friday after class I headed home to Gainesville. Matt and I were supposed to go to a concert that night in Dallas. Matt bought me the tickets for my birthday to see Sara Barielles, Ingrid Michaelson, Greg Laswell, Joshua Radin and Cary Brothers so we were finally going to get to go BUT.... Matt was sick! He really wanted to come but was running a fever and had been to the doctor and all that fun stuff and just really couldn't make it. Even though it was late notice, I convinced my mom to go with me! Mom took off work a little early (poor thing) and we left that afternoon and took off for Dallas! We were glad that we left when we did because we didn't hit too much traffic. We got into some once we got into Dallas, but it wasn't too bad.

Once we found the House of Blues we found a parking spot then got out to find a place to eat. We didn't want to wander off anywhere too far, because we didn't want to get lost! We decided to eat at the place that was right next door because we figured that would be real convenient. I was told by my mother that I wasn't allowed to tell where we ate. I will just give a hint though. It starts with "H" and ends with "ooters". As bad as it is sometimes, the food is actually VERY good. They put us in a little room in the very back where we were kind of by ourselves (we're guessing they could tell we weren't the "usual" customers) and it was really pretty nice! There was also a Mavs game that night so there were a bunch of people there in their Mavs jerseys. Anyway, we enjoyed our food, and by the time we finished eating the doors had opened so we could go to the concert!

If you have never been to the House of Blues, it is REALLY cool! It is real different, but it was a really neat atmosphere. We just had general admission tickets so we just had to find a place to stand. I think the "standing for four hours" thing was the only thing that my mom was a little hesitant about. Whereas we WERE tired at the end, it wasn't too bad. We found a place at the back (but that was still VERY close to the stage) where we could lean on the bars that surrounded the sound booth. Most of the time, we still had a really great view of the stage. We had one lady with huge hair (it smelled nice and clean, though) who kept backing up and getting really close to us. Eventually she would reazlie it and move up some for a little while.

The girls definitely stole the evening. The guys were ok, but Ingrid and Sara were definitely the best ones. Here are a few videos from the night (they aren't my videos - I found them on youtube). I also posted links to their myspace pages if you want to check them out that way!

Ingrid Michaelson: www.myspace.com/ingridmichaelson

Sara Bareilles: www.myspace.com/sarabareilles

This is one of my favorites of her songs. Mainly because of the bridge... I think its amazing. Just a warning though, it does have one bad word in the first verse. It's called "Bottle It Up"

This is her more well known song, "Love Song" (i learned part of this on piano!) At the beginning is a clip of her saying "Don't put this on YouTube!" Well of course, I found it on youtube! It's pretty funny. She is actually trying to say, "Don't grow up to be an alcoholic." Instead, she said something like, "Don't grow up to beek an alcohol," then mumbled something else. It's pretty funny.

So anyway, there is a quick summary of the concert! I won't post any videos of the guys, but I'll list their myspaces if you want to check them out!
